The Future of eTrucks: EV Belgium at Volvo Trucks Gent

Join EV Belgium for an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at Volvo Trucks Ghent, Europe’s largest electric truck factory. See up close how the latest generation of heavy-duty electric trucks is assembled and how they are paving the way for zero-emission logistics.

During this exclusive company visit, we will delve deep into the world of heavy-duty electrification, a crucial part of the broader and necessary mobility transition.

Whilst the electrification of passenger transport is now well established, the shift to electric lorries represents the next major challenge and opportunity for the sector. E-trucks are essential for achieving a fully emission-free logistics chain and improving the quality of life in our cities, but they also present unique challenges in terms of vehicle technology, grid capacity and the roll-out of specific charging infrastructure (such as Megawatt Charging).

This visit aligns perfectly with EV Belgium’s vision. In our recent position paper: “A truck is not a car: accelerate the introduction of electric heavy-duty commercial vehicles in Belgium”. For the transition to succeed, a specific policy is needed that takes into account the operational realities of heavy transport.

The programme kicks off with a catered networking lunch, the ideal opportunity to exchange ideas with industry peers. This will be followed by an in-depth presentation on Volvo Trucks’ strategic vision for the global energy transition. We will then head into the factory for an extensive tour of the state-of-the-art production halls and warehouses. Join other interested parties to see how innovation and sustainability come together in practice to shape the logistics of tomorrow.
